Darius Garland Powers Cavs Past Lakers

CLEVELAND (AP) - Darius Garland scored 26 points and undrafted rookie Craig Porter Jr. had a career-high 21 points, powering the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 116-97 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday night.
Garland, the fifth overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, was 11-of-25 from the field and 4-of-9 from 3-point range. He added two rebounds, two assists, and five steals in 35 minutes.
Porter Jr., who went undrafted out of Xavier, was 8-of-15 from the field and 3-of-7 from 3-point range. He added seven rebounds and two assists.
The Cavaliers (7-7) snapped a two-game losing streak with the victory. The Lakers (5-9) have lost four of their last five games.
LeBron James led the Lakers with 25 points, followed by Anthony Davis with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Russell Westbrook added 14 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.
The Cavaliers led by just five points at halftime, but they opened up a 15-point lead in the third quarter and cruised to the victory.
The Cavaliers will host the Indiana Pacers on Monday night. The Lakers will visit the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night.
